Let\u2019s celebrate Maths Day with Bmath"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In boboli, we love maths. Yes, we know\u2026 it\u2019s not the most normal thing in the world, but we can\u2019t help it. Today, 14th March, is the <strong>International Day of Mathematics<\/strong> and we want to honour it with the help of <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmath.app\/\">Bmath<\/a><\/u><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2><strong><strong>What is Bmath?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmath.app\/bmath-app-de-matematicas-para-ninos\/\">Bmath<\/a><\/u><\/strong>&nbsp;is an app that helps us <strong>learn maths in a fun way on our own <\/strong>in just 20 minutes per day. It was created by three engineers to help children understand maths through logic and creativity rather than memorizing concepts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is being used in <strong>more than 690 schools.<\/strong> Games and challenges occupy a large part of the app as it talks to children in their language.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong><strong>Did you know that maths has always been around?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Maths has existed <strong>from the very beginning of the history of humanity,<\/strong> although man didn\u2019t know it because all human reasoning was pervaded by magic and mystery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maths is a science that <strong>studies geometrical structures, numbers, forms and constructions. <\/strong>But we can also see it as a game, a language that connects us to everything around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong><strong>4 challenges for celebrating Mathematics Day. Will you join us?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We have selected <strong>4 maths challenges <\/strong>to celebrate this day with <strong><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmath.app\/bmath-app-de-matematicas-para-ninos\/\">Bmath<\/a><\/u><\/strong>. Would you dare to solve them with us? You\u2019re bound to do well! To do that, we\u2019ll visit a place we\u2019re very familiar with in our daily life, a car park. Maths is everywhere! <strong>A pattern is a sequence of elements<\/strong>, in this case, of numbers that are related to each other. This sequence can be expressed in innumerable ways\u2026 Power to the imagination!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The challenge we propose ([ ] \u2013 4 \u2013 [ ] \u2013 16) is particularly interesting for several reasons. In the first place, <strong>there are many different ways to get a right answer<\/strong>, but additionally for the same combination of numbers, maybe we can find more than one way of reasoning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few examples, but they\u2019re definitely not the only ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>4 \u2013 4 \u2013 16 \u2013 16: we understand there\u2019s a pattern of 2 units that are repeated<\/li><li>2 \u2013 4 \u2013 8- 16: the previous number is multiplied by 2<\/li><li>1 \u2013 4 \u2013 9&nbsp;\u2013 16: squared numbers 1 \u00d7 1, 2 \u00d7 2, 3 \u00d7 3, 4 \u00d7 4<\/li><li>1 \u2013 4 \u2013 9 \u2013 16: adding the previous number with an odd number 0 + 1, 1 + 3,&nbsp;4 + 5, 9 + 7<\/li><li>8 \u2013 4 \u2013 12 \u2013 16: the Fibonacci series (addition of the 2 previous numbers)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. <strong>The combination of the safe<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10873\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-2.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-2-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In this challenge <strong>we step into the shoes of a detective<\/strong> who has to discover the combination of a safe (4 numbers). Luckily, the owner is a little absent-minded and has left a written clue to remember the combination\u2026 that we can use!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If <strong>we were to give each digit of the combination an unknown variable <\/strong>we could say, for example, that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands = Blue = A<br>Hundreds = Red= B<br>Tens = Yellow = C<br>Units = Green = D<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To resolve the challenge <strong>we have to be very tidy<\/strong> and see what relations can be established between the numbers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Blue is bigger than red\u2014&nbsp;A &gt; B<\/li><li>Red is double yellow\u2014 B = 2C<\/li><li>Yellow is less than green\u2014&nbsp;C &lt; D<\/li><li>Green is half of blue\u2014 2D = A<\/li><li>None of the numbers are repeated\u2014&nbsp;A&nbsp;\u2260 B&nbsp;\u2260 C&nbsp;\u2260 D<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;3. <strong>What\u2019s the height of the table?<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10875\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-3.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. <strong>The challenge of the five queens<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img width=\"900\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10877\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-4.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.boboli.es\/boboliland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/01_12_Dia_Matematicas-POST-4-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In this challenge we have 5 queens that we must place on a <strong>5&#215;5 chessboard.<\/strong> <strong>What\u2019s the maximum number of squares that cannot be attacked?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember the queen cannot reach them in one move. It\u2019s a chess piece that can attack in a straight line vertically, horizontally or diagonally. <strong>This is an exercise in logic and representation. <\/strong>Will you help us solve it?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In boboli, we love maths.
